Educational Intervention Approaches

This section contains current, research-based information on the importance of a comprehensive treatment/education program that includes appropriate instructional strategies. An effective intervention approach needs to be based on the child's unique personality and specific educational needs.

Introduction

In 2001 the National Research Council released the book, Educating Children with Autism. In this book the Committee on Educational Interventions for Children with Autism supplies extensive information about effective instructional strategies and designing programs for children who have autism spectrum disorder. Links to two chapters of the book are provided below. Intervention Approaches

Some widely recognized work focusing on autism intervention approaches is being done by Barry M Prizant and Emily Rubin. A link to one of their articles that discusses various intervention approaches is provided below. The Tulare County/District Special SELPA would like to thank TASH for allowing us to make this article available on the Autism Resources web site. Comprehensive Programs
